Favourite Recipes
I have a long list of favourite recipes and tips-and-tricks passed down from my parents. Unfortunately, most of these recipes have not been written down. In addition, I often make changes on the fly. So now, I will try to do better and post these recipes here for sharing. If you try the recipes out, please let me know how it went. One key thing to remember: The quality of the ingredients will lead to a successful and delicious dish.
Breads
During our Coronavirus self-quarantine, I jumped on the bandwagon after watching a very good friend making her no-knead bread while we were group video chatting. Who would have guessed I would become so excited about growing yeast?
Main Course
Every week, my friends and I join a weekly Zoom video chat. We pre-emp our video call with Whatsapp group posts of what we are making for dinner. Our girlfriend (let’s call her “The Influencer”) really made the case for making homemade pizza. To save money, I bought a pizza stone so I could try making pizza instead of ordering delivery pizza. My family dig pizza even more now!
Filipino Dishes
Both of my parents loved to cook. They both cooked seriously delicious food – Western, European, Asian and Filipino cuisines. They loved nothing better to cook for others to show how much they care. Thankfully, our parents taught my brother and I how to cook and we picked up some secret family recipes and tips-n-tricks. Our dad was the fast cook who could cook up anything. In contrast, our mom was the meticulous cook who collected recipes. We miss our mom’s cooking to this day. Nowadays, my dad still cooks up a storm especially on special occasions. Sometimes, he accepts orders for his famed Filipino Barbecue Sticks and Lumpia Shanghai.
